La Meridiana introduction
The hotel La Meridiana is situated in Garlenda, in the beautiful myrtle and broom scented Ligurian countryside. An exclusive Italian retreat, within easy reach of the town of Alassio, La Meridiana has 33 exquisitely furnished guest bedrooms and suites in addition to the spacious Master apartment. All rooms have balconies or small private gardens.
The elegant and refined "Il Rosamarino" restaurant, decorated with 19th century paintings and period silverware, presents guests with a menu featuring traditional Mediterranean dishes prepared so as to exalt the flavours and perfumes of Liguria using the finest locally caught fish, and freshest seasonal vegetables such as artichokes, tender courgettes and the purple asparagus of Albenga. An infinite wine list includes exceptional vintages from all of the most prestigious cellars and the labels of the best young Italian wine makers. The less formal "Bistrot de la Meridiana" serves typical Ligurian fare. Open for both lunch and dinner, in the warm summer months, the patio is transformed in al fresco dining room, enjoying an enchanting backdrop of hydrangeas and oak trees.
The breakfast served at the La Meridiana is one of the finest to be enjoyed in any hotel. Guests are greeted by a buffet comprised of freshly baked brioches and cakes, numerous types of bread, biscuits, home made jams, yogurt, fruit salad, freshly squeezed orange and mandarin juice, the finest Italian prosciutto and bresaola and a spectacular cheese board.
Various types of tea arrive direct from London's Fortnum and Mason. Coffee is a rich, full bodied Arabic blend. Salmon smoked on olive wood, quiches, eggs to taste and a glass of Italian prosecco provide a special boost of energy with which to start the day.
The swimming pool of the La Meridiana has been designed so as to incorporate a whirlpool and stream with waterfall feature. Just a few steps away from the "La Meridiana", lies the Golf Club Garlenda; a 6km, 18 hole course, immersed in the Ligurian landscape, amidst centuries old olive trees and groups of Coastal pines.
