Ventimiglia
On the French Border, a city which is at the same time archeological, Medieval and Modern.
Ventimiglia has much of interest. Of historical interest there are the Porta Provenza, Mosaics and Baths, and to the right hand side of the River Roia traces of the Medieval period with old walls, the the Convent of the Canoniche, the Cathedral of the Assunta and the Baroque Church of St Antonio Abate.
Then there is the modern face of the town, along the seafront, in Via Cavour, Via Repubblica and Piazza dei Martiri. Worth a visit: the large Friday market, and the Girolomo Rossi Archaelogical Museum. Two major events: Medieval August and the Battle of the Flowers.
